I sat alone
tears ran down my face
when I consider
the pain of my mother
and sisters
when I heard the cries
of the little ones
When I saw the cruel death
of the strong ones
I too cried
when I saw the Temple
burned and grown over with weeds
none come to her Sabbaths
none say come
Let us go up to Zion
and worship God
Let us hear the praise
and music of the Lord
Why? Lord
why have you let the enemy
Do our lives like this?
What about pity?
What about tender mercies?
Didn't you swear to be our God
for eternity?
You knew I was but flesh,
and not a god.
I bleed, I feel pain
and I make errors
Who among the son's of Adam
have not sinned before you?
None-we are all guilty before you
Mercy, O God, Mercy
Return the years the Locus has eaten
Bring again the captives
of Judah and Israel
and forgive our sins
Resurrect us
from the dead
by your power
that men may know
that you alone art God
that your word is truth
Open my eyes
that I may see
your great light
cause the spirit of life
to flow through my veins again
Let the drumbeat in my chest
sound again
cause me to sit-up and speak
before the world and all nations
that they may confess
that this is the Truth
the way men should follow
at the resurrection of your people
Israel
by your mighty arm and powerful hands
