You stood up
when we needed a hero most
when our hope was broken
You said loud and proudly:
“Unlock all your God given
potential.”
“Stop being afraid, begin to think as
a collective body.”
“When you begin to speak their
language
they will stop their brutality. You
can't speak
peace, when a man knows only the
language of
war- Well good night.”
You were gallant, dashing, our manhood.
We woke up the next day
with a purpose and a rhythm
in our steps.
It wasn't because of Islam,
though you often said that
was my religion.
It wasn't because you
were the angriest brother out there
because of oppression.
No, we looked up to you
because you Cared-
genuinely cared about us;
our families, our communities,
our churches, our standing
in the land of our captivity.
You cared about our survival.
And we felt that.
So, you were very dangerous
to the machine,
an anomaly
that can cause the whole system to
crash.
So they sent in their technicians
to fix the problem;
So the machine would continue
to work as planned-
“ If the Negro returns to his origin,
if he finds out who, and what he is,
then our enterprise will not be a
success. Therefore, we must suppress
anything or person who attempts to
wake up this old lion.”
However, the stage is set
and hearts are in motion
and the minds of the thoughtful-
them who cry and sigh
for all the abominations committed
in the midst of Jerusalem, was opened.
Shalam,
Zarach
