Exodus 1:7
We came in chains
from across the ocean
put on auction blocks
separated from my mother's arms
watched my father dragged away
heard my sister's screams
and I looked up to heaven
and the tears came down all thru my face like a river
running into the ocean
Led away to distant lands in chains
who will show me the way to wisdom?
who will help me to become a man?
who will teach me the path to walk on?
O, who will hear me? Who will wipe away all these tears?
I look to heaven
and the tears come down all thru my face like a river
running into the sea
Toil for my back and the lash of the cruel
No rest day or night
Sweat running down unto my brow
We came in chains
from across the oceans
I look to heaven and the sun is in my eyes. But I'm calling you Father.
I know it's not too late
I can change, my times can change
I still have hope
"Come and take us back to yourself again, forgive me for my mistakes."
"O, who will hear me? Who will wipe away these tears? If not you, Father?"
"Dare Father, I want to come home again."
" I confess, I was wrong and you are stronger than I. Therefore, I fall at your feet and
beseech your mercy!"
We came in chains
Scattered everywhere
Now we are a multitude again
Lead us again
Take us home again-
