125th Street Harlem: Voices

We went from struggle to struggle

Broken homes and hoods burnt and broken

Going from darkness to more darkness

Yet, there were voices crying out-

" Freedom for everybody or freedom for nobody!"

"We want freedom now!"

"...By any means necessary!!"

Dubios wrote the history of our people: Black people.

And Carter G. taught us how to celebrate our uniqueness in the land of our captivity.

Garvey organized us into a mighty race and dreamed of a homeland as rich & powerful

as Wakanda and Zamunda together & full of grace.

125th Street Hebrews reconciled us to our God again,

Unlocking the Scriptures and said that we were Compadres, Amigos, Ami', Homes, Homies,

Money, my Man, my Friend- Brothers!

And that Door, that is in heaven guaranteed our access to life again.

Matt. 28:20
