To walk in a spiritual way means that every moment of our lives is captured by this desire. To live a spiritual life means that all your thoughts, all your words, and all your actions are filtered by the spirit of God or the word of God; nothing is taken for granted, but is subject to the word of God.
Your daily life is the sum of your spirit-man or spiritual life: the inner man. What we do and say will eventually cement our character and our very essence. It will define our identity. Therefore, great thought and contemplation must be placed on the choices we make in order to reach the ability to walk in the spirit and stay in the spirit. This is the life of the mind.
To help us achieve this spiritual life, God has left us a Book of instructions to guide our steps in our life's journey: the Bible. In it are laws, judgements, wisdom, counsel, prophecies, and examples of men and women, both holy and wicked, to reflect on and gain insight into what works and what doesn't work for one seeking to live the ascetic life and to walk in the spirit of God.
If these instructions and laws are applied, eventually it will lead to a life well lived coupled with the hope of immortality, which God has promised to all his faithful followers who choose His path or way. And the end of this law is faith in God through his son, Christ, the Lord. In him we find completeness, wholeness, and hope on our journey.
To walk in the spirit then, is a choice we must make everyday, while denying the desires do the very opposite of living a life without God or His word. The ability to have this choice is part of being human or a son of Adam-we can choose to do what is upright or evil. The choice of evil, however, leads to destruction. Thus, to overcome and achieve the blessing of God, we must follow the instructions of Christ, the end of this faith and walk with God, who said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross (the constant struggle to do good in the midst of evil and temptations), and follow me ( keep God's commands as he did)Matt. 16:24, John 14:31."
