The Blessing

In the beginning

God chose Abraham

Isaac after him, then Jacob over Esau

Next He selected the children of Jacob: the 12 tribes of Israel

To be his peculiar people above all people

And said to them, “ You are my witnesses; that there is

No other God but me.”(Is. 43:10)

And He blessed them saying, “ In you shall all the families of the earth be blessed.”( Gen. 12:1,2,3)

“By you will I cause all wars to end and bring the violent to nothing; men shall know peace

From one end of earth to the other”

By you I will transform the burnt and desolate wasteland into Eden once more

When I make new heavens and a new earth;

“For I have made you for my glory” (Isaiah 43:1, 5,6,7)

Hero Part 2

I went looking for a hero

One to lead us out of darkness

And into that marvelous light

That has been yearned for through the ages

A shepherd to guide us with wisdom

Thru the valleys and over the mountains

Pass the gagged Cliff and deep ravines

Unto the way of the city with golden streets

I went looking for a leader to end the pain,

The struggle, the hurt, and the sorrow of

Being a stranger is a strange land

And I met you

And you said, “Follow me”-

“And I will show you what eyes have not seen, nor ear heard”

For God does his strange work in the earth

You asked, “do you believe?”

John 1:37, 38

When I Read

When I read

I reflect on your holy word

Then I gain insight

Into what you require of man

And what is good for man

And that which cause one to fall from the way

By your holy word I gain life

That precious gift you give to them that love you

And not the life of the sensed only, but to truly live-

 In your everlasting light, Oh Yahawah

Rejoicing in all you give

From beautiful sunset beaches

Moon lit skies full of stars

Blue oceans

To the warm embrace of a loving wife and children

At the end of a journey crowned with success

To the sweetness of your Sabbath days

And the laughter and joy of your feast days

All this life you give to him that walk in obedience to you

All is joyous to them who read your holy words

And understand that these are your gifts to man

Our Labor

Confusion on all sides
people telling you
what to do, what to wear,
what to eat
making merchandise of you and me
But out of the darkness
came the Light
and shined on me
at the hour of decision
and I took up the work
He gave me
I began to build
The noise continued still
yet, I was steadfast,
unmovable
I saw the end
from where I was standing
and nothing was able to
compare to it
They whispered
in my ear
of the glory and pleasures
of this life-
all seven of them
spoke at once
Then I called to remembrance
the saints of old
how they declared to the world
that they were strangers and pilgrims
in the Earth; waiting for the Kingdom
and resisting against
the evil and the systems of darkness
because they knew
God was Faithful.

with golden streets
A leader to end the pain, the struggle,
the hurt, and the sorrow of a stranger
in a strange land
And I met you
and you said, "Follow me."
"And what I will show you,
eyes have not seen, nor ears heard;
the wondrous work God is about to do
on the Earth."
You reach out your hand
and said, " Do you believe?"
"Trust in me..."

Evening Prayer

On the rooftop
in the cool of the day
high above
the commotions of the city
A quite place to pray
My attention directed towards you,
O God
The source of my life force
The substance of my soul
-He is the life of man-
I come humbly before you
hear my petition
consider my meditation
and my reflections of you, O God
Examine me and see
for I am your servant
Hear me
deliver me from all my enemies
Rescue me from the gates of the grave
cause me to live
that by me you may
do valiantly in the Earth
gird me with thy strength
in the land of the living.
